Hi there. I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and I own a wonderfully fun, small accounting and tax preparation firm in Maryland. I’ve been working in small business accounting for well over a decade now. I own and manage my business, which means I wear a lot of hats. Some are pretty cute, if I say so myself, others I wish I never had to wear again. But hey, that’s business ownership for you.
I think I am like a lot of small business owners it is not the money that motivates me to do this. (Although I like money. Money certainly is nice to have when you need it). Instead, I am a business owner because I deeply value the freedom it allows me to set my own course through life.
Working at the firm every day I get to meet amazing people who continue to teach me a lot about life and about what really goes into running a small business.
Over the years I’ve noticed that I get the same questions and hear similar stories of frustrations about business and personal finance, over and over. I started this site to try to help more people find quick answers to some of the common small business and personal finance questions that so often land on my desk.
